About

I am a writer of mushy poems and tacky stories, a singer of old songs that are out of fashion and someone who is obsessed with history. I like to read books but I prefer to watch movies. I have recently started reviewing the books I read and movies that I watch (too late I guess, but better late than never). For 2014, I am going to read and review 130 books as part of the 130 Challenge.

I wasn’t really actively blogging for a long period of time and have started again thanks to encouragement from my friends. You can find their blogs on the right side pane under ‘Give these a dekko’.

I also like to draw and I will be putting up my sketches and drawings up on my blog for your perusal, soon (because I am an insufferable narcissist who likes to be appreciated). I think I draw okayish . Please don’t judge me for using that word. Wait, you already did. Great.

Besides all that, I love to cook and take extreme delight in watching people eat (and appreciate) the food that I prepare. Anyone who reads my blog is welcome to come over for lunch/dinner or a snack. I am currently in Kochi, Kerala so ping me for more details if you really want to visit.

I like music and I keep trying different genres, so suggestions are most welcome. I don’t really have a favorite band (because it is so hard to choose) but I like most songs by Pink Floyd, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, The Beatles, Pearl Jam, Audioslave, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson and Queen (of course). The latest band to join this venerable group is Vampire Weekend. My favorite song from last year (2013) is ‘Ya Hey’ by Vampire Weekend.

If you read my blog and find that you have something to say (or not), please, for the love of dog, leave a comment. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love feedback!

You can find me on Facebook  or you can email me: aamil4u ‘at’ gmail ‘dot’ com

P.S. You could also read my favorite quotes or my short poems to know more about me (shameless plug, I know).

I first wrote this bio on 2nd January, 2014. My earlier bio (which I think is not too great and too philosophical) can be found here (for posterity).

  1. 130 in a year is a tough ask. All the best with that. Though, I must confess, I am not too optimistic.

    1. Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I’m also afraid it might not happen. But let’s see what happens. I have half a year yet. A lot could happen in that time :-)

  2. Hey Aamil just to let you know I’m sending out my book for free via word on email (but don’t tell my publisher) for a week or so. It was the first prize in a raffle on ‘towel day’ a week ago in America and England. If you want to have a read and review let me know and I will send you a copy. It’s called ‘Everybody out of the laundromat I need to think’ by Phil G Glenn. My email is philgee60@hotmail.com cheers Phil
